Maintaining Your Robot: Battery and Brush Care

Your robot cleaner is an investment. Like a car, it needs basic maintenance to perform at its peak. Neglecting it leads to poor cleaning performance and dead batteries.

Battery Longevity

Key Details

Lithium-ion batteries prefer to be used. Don’t leave your robot unplugged for months. If you go on vacation, put it in “Shipping Mode” or “Storage Mode” via the app. Most robots are smart enough to manage their own charging cycles to preserve cell health.

The Weekly Ritual

Spend 5 minutes a week on these three things:

  1. Sensors: Wipe the “cliff sensors” and cameras with a dry microfiber cloth. Dust blinds the robot.
  2. Hair Removal: Pop out the main brush and cut off any wrapped hair (most robots come with a tool for this).
  3. Filter: Tap out the HEPA filter into a trash can. Do NOT wash it unless the manual explicitly says so.

Replacement Parts

Brushes and filters are consumables. Expect to change side brushes every 3-6 months and main brushes every 6-12 months. Using worn brushes is the #1 reason for “my robot stopped picking up dirt”.
